Bolivar, MO – Two Children Injured in Crash on MO 13

Bolivar, MO (February 8, 2025) – A two-vehicle accident on Missouri Highway 13 left two children injured on Friday afternoon, February 7. The crash occurred at approximately 3:35 p.m. just two miles north of Bolivar, at the intersection of Route B and Route BB.

Authorities report that a 2014 Ford F-150 attempted to cross MO 13 from Route BB to Route B when it collided with a 2008 Dodge 3500 traveling north. The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles, rendering them inoperable. A and J Towing responded to the scene to remove the wreckage.

The Ford was driven by a 31-year-old woman from Flemington, MO, while the Dodge was operated by a 46-year-old man from Willard, MO. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and were not reported to have suffered injuries.

However, two young passengers in the Ford, a 6-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy, sustained minor injuries. Emergency medical personnel transported both children to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO, for treatment. Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper D. J. Jackson conducted the investigation. Further details about the crash are still under review by law enforcement authorities.

Our thoughts are with the injured children, and we wish them a quick and full recovery.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Bolivar, MO – Two Children Injured in Crash on MO 13Car accidents are a frequent occurrence in Missouri, with thousands reported each year. The Missouri Department of Transportation states that over 150,000 crashes happen annually, many resulting in injuries or fatalities. Rural highways, like MO 13, are particularly prone to collisions due to high speeds and intersection crossings.

Understanding how accidents happen can help drivers stay safe. Below are some common causes of crashes in Missouri:

  • Failure to Yield – Intersections pose a significant risk, especially when drivers misjudge the speed of oncoming traffic. Failing to yield can result in severe side-impact collisions.
  • Distracted Driving – Using a phone, adjusting the radio, or engaging in other distractions takes attention away from the road, increasing the likelihood of accidents.
  • Speeding – Exceeding speed limits reduces reaction time and makes it harder to avoid sudden obstacles or stop in time at intersections.
  • Poor Road Conditions – Weather and road maintenance play a role in crashes. Potholes, wet roads, and limited visibility contribute to dangerous driving situations.
  • Driver Fatigue – Tired drivers have slower reaction times and impaired judgment, which can be as dangerous as driving under the influence.
