Holden, MO – Three Injured in Crash on MO 2 and SE 1651st Rd

Holden, MO (March 13, 2025) – A collision involving a pickup truck and a dump truck on Missouri Route 2 left three people injured Tuesday afternoon. The crash occurred around 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of MO 2 and SE 1651st Rd in Johnson County.

Authorities reported that a 2000 Ford F-150, driven by a 29-year-old woman from Holden, was heading eastbound when it veered across the center line. A westbound 1998 Mack dump truck, driven by a 43-year-old man from Warrensburg, swerved in an attempt to avoid the oncoming pickup. However, the Ford struck the dump truck’s front left tire. The impact forced the pickup off the road, where it overturned and came to rest on its passenger side.

Emergency crews responded swiftly, including the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department and Johnson County Fire District. The driver of the Ford F-150, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Johnson County Ambulance District (JCAD) to Truman Medical Center. Two young children, a 3-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, were also in the vehicle. Neither child was restrained, and both suffered moderate injuries. They were transported to Children’s Mercy Hospital for further medical care. The driver of the dump truck was unhurt and was able to drive away from the scene. Missouri State Highway Patrol Troopers, along with local authorities, are continuing to investigate the incident.

Our thoughts are with those injured in this accident, and we hope for their full recovery.

Truck Accidents in Missouri

Holden, MO – Three Injured in Crash on MO 2 and SE 1651st RdTruck accidents in Missouri can lead to severe injuries due to the size and weight of commercial vehicles. According to recent statistics, Missouri sees thousands of crashes involving large trucks each year, many resulting in injuries or fatalities. Factors such as driver fatigue, distracted driving, and mechanical failures often contribute to these crashes.

Truck accidents often lead to complex investigations, and multiple factors may play a role. Here are some key considerations in truck accidents:

  • Driver Error: Speeding, distracted driving, and fatigue contribute significantly to truck crashes. Drivers working long hours may struggle with delayed reaction times and reduced awareness on the road.
  • Mechanical Failures: Issues like brake failure or tire blowouts can cause trucks to become difficult to control, increasing the likelihood of an accident.
  • Improper Loading: Overloaded or unbalanced cargo can lead to rollovers or loss of control, endangering other drivers on the road.
  • Lack of Restraint Use: As seen in this case, failure to wear a seatbelt can worsen injuries in a crash. Ensuring proper restraints for all passengers, especially children, is crucial.
