Oxford, MO – One Killed, One Injured in Rte U Crash

Oxford, MO (February 11, 2025) – A crash in northern Missouri left one man dead and another seriously injured early Saturday morning.

Authorities with the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the accident just before 2:15 a.m. on February 8. The crash occurred along Route U, about a quarter mile south of Oxford.

Investigations revealed that a 20-year-old man was driving a 2011 Dodge Ram 2500 southbound when he failed to navigate a curve in the roadway. The truck veered off the east side of the road, struck an embankment, and went airborne. Upon landing, the vehicle rolled multiple times, ejecting the 21-year-old passenger before coming to rest on its wheels.

Emergency responders arrived and pronounced the passenger dead at the scene. Officials have since notified his family. The driver sustained serious injuries and was flown to a hospital in Kansas City for treatment. His current condition has not been released. Authorities confirmed that neither individual was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim, and we also hope the injured driver makes a full recovery.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Oxford, MO – One Killed, One Injured in Route U CrashMissouri experiences thousands of car accidents each year, many of which lead to severe injuries or fatalities. In recent years, the state has reported over 900 fatal crashes annually, with many occurring on rural roadways. Speeding, driver error, and failure to wear seatbelts remain common factors in serious accidents across Missouri.

Drivers must remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to reduce the risk of accidents. Below are some crucial factors that contribute to crashes:

  • Rural Roadway Dangers – Many crashes happen on rural roads due to sharp curves, limited lighting, and unexpected hazards. Drivers should reduce speed and remain alert in these areas.
  • Seatbelt Usage – Failing to wear a seatbelt significantly increases the risk of serious injury or death in a crash. Studies show that seatbelts reduce fatalities by nearly 45%.
  • Speeding on Curved Roads – High speeds make it harder to navigate curves, increasing the chance of losing control. Slowing down before turns can help prevent rollovers and other severe crashes.
  • Ejection Risks – Being thrown from a vehicle often results in fatal injuries. Seatbelt use is one of the most effective ways to prevent ejection during a crash.
