Warrensburg, MO (March 8, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision occurred Tuesday evening on Business 13 at SE 240 Road, sending both drivers to the hospital.

The crash happened at approximately 5:42 p.m. when a 2014 Nissan Versa, driven by a 53-year-old woman from Warrensburg, slowed down to make a left turn. A 16-year-old male driver in a 2010 Jeep Liberty, also from Warrensburg, crashed into the back of the Nissan for reasons that are still being investigated by law enforcement officials. The impact caused extensive damage to the Jeep and totaled the Nissan.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, and both drivers sustained minor injuries. They were transported to Western Missouri Medical Center for further evaluation. Authorities with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the crash site. The accident remains under investigation.

We hope both individuals recover quickly from their injuries.

Rear-End Collisions in Missouri

Warrensburg, MO - Two Injured in Rear-End Crash on Business 13Rear-end collisions are among the most common types of accidents in Missouri. Many of these crashes happen due to distracted driving, speeding, or following too closely. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, rear-end accidents make up a large percentage of crashes across the state, often leading to injuries and vehicle damage.

Understanding why these accidents occur can help drivers stay safer on the road. Here are some common factors that contribute to rear-end crashes:

  • Following Too Closely: Tailgating reduces reaction time, making it harder to stop when the vehicle ahead slows or stops suddenly.
  • Driver Distraction: Taking your eyes off the road for even a few seconds—whether to check a phone, adjust the radio, or talk to a passenger—can lead to a crash.
  • Speeding: The faster a car travels, the more distance it needs to stop safely. Speeding drivers are more likely to collide with vehicles in front of them.
  • Poor Weather Conditions: Rain, snow, or fog can reduce visibility and make roads slippery, increasing the risk of rear-end collisions.

If you have been injured in a rear-end collision, reaching out to a Warrensburg car accident attorney can help you understand your rights.
