According to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, the 35-year-old driver of the Toyota Highlander was heading southbound when he attempted to make a left-hand turn. A 55-year-old man driving a Mack cement truck, also traveling southbound, failed to stop in time and rear-ended the Highlander.

The Toyota’s driver suffered minor injuries and was transported by private vehicle to Mercy Aurora for medical care. The cement truck’s driver was not reported to be injured. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

We hope for a full and timely recovery for the injured driver.

Rear-End Collisions in Missouri

Willard, MO – Driver Injured in Rear-End Collision on Route ABRear-end collisions are among the most frequently reported types of crashes in Missouri. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, these accidents account for nearly 30% of all reported crashes each year. Many of these incidents occur at intersections or when a driver is attempting to turn.

Several factors contribute to rear-end accidents, including:

  • Following Too Closely – Tailgating increases the likelihood of a rear-end collision, especially when the leading vehicle slows down or stops unexpectedly.
  • Distracted Driving – Taking eyes off the road for even a moment can prevent drivers from reacting in time to avoid a crash. Cell phone use, eating, or adjusting the radio are common distractions.
  • Speeding – Driving too fast reduces stopping distance, making it difficult to react when traffic slows or stops.
  • Weather Conditions – Wet or icy roads can make it harder for vehicles to stop in time, leading to more rear-end crashes.
  • Brake Failure – Mechanical issues, such as worn-out brakes, can prevent a vehicle from stopping properly, increasing crash risks.
